Clay Tablet Technologies Partners With Language Weaver
Collaboration of two companies creates a comprehensive solution for the translation management process
Toronto, Ontario and Marina del Rey, California, March 28, 2006 — Clay Tablet Technologies, a provider of innovative translation workflow software, has integrated its products with the automated translation technologies of Language Weaver. The two companies have formed a strategic product integration alliance and are now jointly pursuing opportunities together.
Clay Tablet allows customers to quickly and easily send documents, or portions of documents, to translation. When translated content returns, it’s automatically inserted back where it belongs on a company’s web site, fileservers, databases or other repositories. Traditionally, Clay Tablet has integrated with translation service providers and the tools they use. Now Clay Tablet’s systems can also integrate directly with Language Weaver’s statistical machine translation software, or SMTS.
“Integrating with Language Weaver allows us to offer customers the option of using the highest quality statistical machine translation available, where appropriate for their needs,” said Clay Tablet Founder and President Robinson Kelly. “For applications with extremely time sensitive translation requirements or for very high volume needs, Language Weaver’s automatic translation represents a great new option.”
Language Weaver’s SMTS "learns" language translations by identifying patterns and relationships within previously translated or parallel texts. Unlike traditional machine translation systems which apply thousands of painstakingly written grammatical rules to attempt to translate documents, Language Weaver uses statistical algorithms to align the text and assess the correlation of words and phrases. Resulting translations are natural-sounding and highly accurate.
As doing business globally becomes increasingly more strategic for companies, it will become more and more advantageous to convert large amounts of content to other languages as a proactive rather than a reactive marketing action. The combined Clay Tablet and Language Weaver solution greatly enhances a company’s ability to convert large amounts of critical business information into multiple languages to drive revenue growth and customer satisfaction internationally.
“Clay Tablet opens up new markets for us,” said Bryce Benjamin, CEO of Language Weaver. “Language Weaver can now be easily applied to translate content selectively on web sites, or even whole fileservers full of data and documents. With Clay Tablet’s client-facing solution now managing content, Language Weaver can offer a more comprehensive solution to solve these and other translation challenges.”
About Language Weaver
Language Weaver was founded in 2002 to commercialize a unique approach to automatic language translation using proprietary statistical translation algorithms that resulted from 20 person-years of invention and development at the University of Southern California’s Information Sciences Institute (USC/ISI). Its resulting product, statistical machine translation software (SMTS), provides the highest quality output to date in automated translation using the best of traditional and new translation technologies. Language Weaver’s translation systems produce fluent, natural sounding translations and save customers money and time through automation of the translation process. Language Weaver software enables cost effective, real-time translations of unstructured documents, like Web based customer communications and text-based research information.
